About Me

Educational History:

I attended a small rural K-8 school that made me love small schools. It was such an amazing experience as a kid and I immediately fell in love with Central High because it reminded me so much of the school I loved as a child. I only wished the school I attended had a HS like CHS so I could have stayed there my entire K-12 experience.

I knew I wanted to teach here the minute I walked down the sidewalk to the front entrance the day of my interview at Central. It felt like home.

I obtained my Bachelor's of Science degree in elementary education from The University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.

I obtained my Masters degree in education for library media from East Central University in Ada.

Degrees and Certifications:

I am certified in the state of Oklahoma to teach early childhood education, elementary education, and K-12 libray media.

Professional Development:

I believe in being a lifelong learner and love new opportunities for professional development. I love doing small online workshops that other educators have and finding new things to teach myself. I love STEAM and strive to incorporate it into my classroom as often as possible.

My all time favorite continuing education experineces was when I was honored to be chosen to attend the Oklahoma Arts Institute teacher workshop at Quartz Mountain. I learned so much and got to experience the arts in many different formats. It was an experinece I will never forget.

I also was honored to work with the Oklahoma State Department of Education in a computer science academy. I was able to collaborate with other Oklahoma educators that were accepted into the program. It gave me the opportunity to learn new skills and learn how to incorporate more computer science into the classroom. I am very thankful to have been chosen for this opportunity and I still attend continuing education workshops in computer science to learn about incorporating new technology into the classroom.

I strive to stay “in the know” with educational practices to better facilitate my students learning in the classroom.

Current Position:

I teach 4th Grade

Personal Information:

Hug

I believe in being an advocate for equality and speaking up for others. I think as educators we have a platform to make positive changes and put kindness out in the world. I believe all students are capable of learning and experiencing success. I welcome all students into my classroom and stive to make it a safe space as learning takes place. I personally enjoy working on mindfulness. I love doing mindfullness and yoga videos in class with students during our break breaks! I think positive self talk for students is very important and helps them know they are capable and will experience success in school! It also helps them with the growth mindset.

When I am not teaching….

I love reading, music, art museums, the ballet, watching basketball (it has been my favorite sport since I was a small child & Russell Westbrook is my favorite!), taking pictures, getting coffee, going to the movies, going to the farmers market with my mom, spending time with my family and friends, and I love animals so very much! My absolute favorite holiday is Christmas and I love watching Christmas movies. I love Starbucks, hot air balloons, cows, weenie dogs, snowy weather, popcorn, shopping at Target and the color pink. I am truly happy doing the smallest things and being around my family and close friends.
